Swoonworthy Martini
Writing this blog, I find myself using the word ‘swoonworthy’ all the time. It’s sort of the internal barometer I use when testing recipes and when reading romance novels. Was I totally in love? Was I swept off my feet? Did the romance make me want to lay down on one of those fainting couches from the olden times and sigh happily?
So I thought it would be fun to include the idea of swoon in my Sip, Sparkle, and Swoon Cocktail Party. And of course, there had to be a Swoonworthy Martini as a signature drink!
One of the things that I feel like makes this martini so swoonworthy is the color. The creme de cassis just gives it this gorgeous red jewel tone that I both want to drink and wear. It’s so pretty and has an elegant richness to it. Combined with the lime green rim, this feels like an obvious holiday cocktail. To me, there is drama in that red, and in the color combo. I immediately find that swoonworthy.
When your guests start sipping this, I think they will find something to swoon over too! Creme de cassis is a black currant liqueur, so it’s juicy and has a beautiful berry taste to it. The lime is a delicious addition as it gives a citrusy and fresh note. Then it’s sweetened just a bit with simple syrup to make the whole drink go down super easy.
I love these Swoonworthy Martinis for their elegance, drama, and delicious taste! Your guests are going to absolutely swoon!

How I Make My Swoonworthy Martini
These Swoonworthy Martinis come together really fast! Which is a good thing, because they go down so smooth, your guests will be asking for another before you know it.
The only thing you need to do in advance is make the simple syrup. As it says in the name, it’s simple. Just boil equal parts water and granulated sugar. Stir it while it’s coming to a boil, to dissolve the sugar. Then, once boiling, turn off the heat and let it cool. You’re ready to use it in your cocktails!
For the rim of the drink, I like to mix lime zest and turbinado sugar. The green of the lime looks so pretty against the red of the cocktail. It’s giving Christmas vibes all over! Zest your lime and mix the zest with a bit of turbinado sugar–probably a tablespoon or so. Then run the lime around the outside of the glasses before placing the glass top-down in the sugar rim. You may need to press gently to get the lime sugar to adhere. Then set aside while you make the cocktail.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Then add in vodka, creme de cassis, freshly squeezed lime juice, and the simple syrup. Now it’s time for your best Tom Cruise impression as you shake that baby up! Pour into two glasses. It’s party time!

These Swoonworthy Cocktails absolutely earn their title–the black currant and lime feel fresh and juicy while the colors here bring the drama. It’s a cocktail to fall in love with while sipping!
