Pumpkin Nutella Swirl Bread with Hazelnut Streusel

We take Fall and Halloween pretty seriously in my house. My family just loves these months so much. We’re lucky if we make it to September 1st without all the Halloween decorations out and ready to go! So a special time of year needs a special treat. Enter my Pumpkin Nutella Swirl Bread with Hazelnut Streusel!

I love making pumpkin bread in the Fall–there’s something so cozy and inviting about a nice slice of pumpkin bread for a weekend breakfast. When it’s baking, the whole house just sort of seems to relax and become oh so cozy.

Readers of my blog will know my love for all things hazelnut and Nutella. Many times I make my pumpkin bread with a sprinkle of chocolate chips on the top for my kids. So when I had the idea to step those chocolate chips up a notch and do a hazelnut swirl, I knew I had to try it.

This Pumpkin Nutella Swirl Bread is so so good. It’s incredibly moist from the addition of greek yogurt. I also cut the sugar from my regular pumpkin bread to accommodate the added sweetness of the hazelnut spread and streusel. This bread comes out just the right level of sweet and soft–it’s practically begging you to grab a slice, a pumpkin latte, and a great romance novel.

The Hazelnut Streusel on top is a delicious upgrade. If you were to skip it, you’d see all the beautiful swirls on the top of the bread, which would also be beautiful. But with the streusel on top you get this amazing crunch that offsets the bread, and you can still see the beautiful swirls when you slice into it. It’s really the best of both worlds, and I don’t recommend skipping the streusel!

I can’t wait for you to try this delicious Pumpkin Nutella Swirl Bread with Hazelnut Streusel! It’s all things Fall and a total head turner! Here’s how I make it!

How I Make My Pumpkin Nutella Swirl Bread with Hazelnut Streusel

Making the Pumpkin Nutella Swirl Bread is both easy and fun. I love that it can all be mixed together with a spoon–no fancy equipment necessary!

Preheat your oven and prepare the inside of a bread pan.

Grab your large mixing bowl and add all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon). The bread has a bit less sugar than other pumpkin breads because the Nutella and the streusel add their own sweetness to the bread. Whisk the dry ingredients together.

In a medium size bowl, mix together the wet ingredients (vanilla, eggs, pumpkin puree, greek yogurt, and oil). Then transfer the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use a spoon to mix it all together. Easy!

Now comes the fun part. Pour half the batter into the bread pan. Dollop half the hazelnut spread on top and use a toothpick to swirl. I love all the little designs that come out here and imagining how it will look in the baked bread! Repeat with the rest of the pumpkin batter and hazelnut spread.

Now, you could bake this just as is and have a beautiful bread with a gorgeous swirly top! But if you’re feeling fancy, use a small bowl to combine the streusel ingredients. I like to do this with my hands, almost like you would when making biscuits. Then spread the mixture on top of the pumpkin bread!

Now it’s time to bake and enjoy the beautiful smells coming from your kitchen. YUM!

The bread will be done when you insert a toothpick into the top and it comes out clean, about 50-60 minutes. Let the bread cool in the pan and then pull it out. Slice and kick back for a delicious fall treat!
