Here’s all the new happenings this week in the world of romance!

A new, contemporary ROMEO+JULIET previewed on Broadway last week to sold out performances and Broadway’s top ticket prices. The new show stars Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler (who also played Maria in the film version of WEST SIDE STORY).

Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa are set to star in a romantic drama for Lasse Hallstrom called THE MAP THAT LEADS TO YOU and is set up at Amazon MGM Studios. This is based on the novel by JP Monninger. Sounds like a three hankie romance.

Amazon is ordering a tv series based on Elle Kennedy’s series of YA romance novels called OFF CAMPUS. There are five books in the series that focus on a hockey team and the women in the lives of their players. Will be interesting to see if they make this feel more adult or keep it in the YA arena. This joins Kennedy’s novel GIRL ABROAD, which is in development for a series with BRIDGERTON Showrunner Chris van Dusen adapting.

NOBODY WANTS THIS may be on its way to being a Netflix hit, but not without some controversy and pushback from audiences and reviewers that don’t appreciate the stereotypical portrayals of Jewish people in the show about a romance between a rabbi and a sex podcast host.
