Cacio e Pepe Twists with Truffle Honey Mascarpone Dip

Puff pastry is your secret weapon during the holidays. She’s effortless, elegant, and tasty! And she works well with others.

I thought it would be fun for my Sip, Sparkle, and Swoon Holiday Cocktail Party to have something tall on the table. It’s always a good idea to think about different textures and presentations for your food table, not just a variety of flavors. Having a snack with height gives the food table really exciting visual appeal.

Earlier this year, I had such a memorable time making my Garlic Zucchini Cacio e Pepe. I thought it would be delicious to give the twists some of those flavors of Parmesan and black pepper.

These snacks couldn’t be easier to make, but the puff pastry makes them really impressive. They’re like a little magic going from flat pastry to these glorious puffed layers that make it look like you own your own French bake shop.

I love serving these with a dip. The Truffle Honey Mascarpone Dip is easy to whip up and adds a touch of sweetness to pair with the savory twists.

These Cacio e Pepe Twists with Truffle Honey Mascarpone Dip were a true hit at my cocktail party, and I know they will be at yours as well! Here’s how I make them.

How to Make My Cacio e Pepe Twists with Truffle Honey Mascarpone Dip

Start the Cacio e Pepe twists by thawing the puff pastry–the most important step! I’m always the person who is ready to go and then realizes I have to let the puff pastry thaw for an hour. Don’t be me!

Once you can open and roll out the puff pastry, spread it out on the counter. Brush the entire thing with an egg wash from one beaten egg. Sprinkle it all over with half the Parmesan cheese and half the black pepper. Cacio e Pepe is very prominent with both Parm and black pepper, so you can use a slightly heavier hand if you wish. You can also add a few drops of truffle oil if you like.

Slice the puff pastry into 1 inch strips. Then gently pick up each strip and twist it before laying it on a baking sheet prepared with parchment paper. Finish twisting the rest of the strips. Then repeat these steps with the second sheet of puff pastry on a second baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes. They will puff up so gorgeously!

While the twists are in the oven, make the Truffle Honey Mascarpone Dip. Stir together the mascarpone and the truffle honey. It’s barely a recipe. If you don’t have truffle honey but would like to mimic the flavor, just use regular honey and add a few drops of truffle oil to it. Make sure your mascarpone is at room temperature first.

I think these looks so pretty standing up in a tall glass–they’re calling out for guests to grab one. You could also serve these in a bread basket, but why hide them away? They look really appealing standing tall.

These can definitely be made in advance and stored in an airtight container until party time. I do think the twists are at their most crisp just out of the oven, but they will still be fine to serve if you make them in advance. The dip is best served at room temperature so that it’s easy to grab a spoonful.

Cacio e Pepe Twists are so easy, fun, and elegant for a cocktail party! Your guests will enjoy them, and so will you as they take very little work. I can’t wait for you to try them!
